When Thom Morrill started doing favors for people by making flower arrangements in Charleston, South Carolina, he had no idea that he and business partner Jeffrey Cartney would eventually turn his hobby into a Cleveland area upscale floral gallery.

Vase to Vase is a flower store located in Rocky River that focuses on tropicals and exotics. The interior of Vase to Vase has gained a lot of attention because of its minimalist displays and colorful exotic arrangements with fresh flowers placed on display daily.

"People like to brag that they've come to our store," said Morrill, co-owner of Vase to Vase. "I've had customers take an hour and a half just to pick out a few blooms, they just like being in the space."

The interior of the store might be what gets customers into Vase to Vase, however the quality of the flowers and customer service is what gets the customers to make purchases and return for more business. "Service and quality is a strong suit for us. Our customers really rely on us, they like the fact that we make things really easy for them and the fact that our staff is very good at remembering names, addresses and keeping credit card information on file," said Morrill. "When they call to place an order we take basic information and they rely on us to do the rest."

One thing that you should not expect when you go to Vase to Vase are flowers that you'll find at any typical flower shop. To assure the best quality flower, Vase to Vase never sells a flower that they haven't owned for at least twenty-four hours. This is to assure that it's properly hardened and conditioned to be the best flower on the market.

Also, they only carry fresh flowers, including tropicals and exotics.

Vase to Vase is one of the most sought after florists in the Cleveland area for weddings. With a 97.5 booking rate (97.5 of every 100 brides who visit the store order through them) Vase to Vase must be doing something right.

"We're all about the image and what your wedding, your party or your event needs to be, what your gift needs to say. We've got the best product in the world and people who really know what they're doing," said Morrill. "When it comes to weddings each wedding is designed for that particular bride, we don't show them pictures or books from a particular wedding, we look around together and actually look at flowers, pick flowers out, and make actual bouquets."

Morrill suggests that brides have a vision of what they want their wedding to be like and what they want the flowers to look like, and to stay with that image. "It's their wedding, they need to do exactly what their vision and dream is, it's a global community and they should do whatever they want that's out there."

Morrill also suggests that brides book their florists at least one year before the wedding date to assure that they get the florist that they want. "Brides need to book the florist when they book the hall and set the date," said Morrill. As far as Vase to Vase is concerned, they already have weddings booked two to three years in advance. Morrill says that the reason for this is simple; Vase to Vase always finds a way of making wedding arrangements personalized and memorable. "Our arrangements complement the wedding. We work closely with the bride and her family to make sure that guests always walk away remembering the flowers."
